Meet the Dentist at

Austin Smile Center

Dr. Gregory P. Watson, DDS

"I got into dentistry because I love to work with my hands. I've always loved working on cars, and building things.  This was a natural evolution to my education.  If I hadn't have found that part time job working for Dr. Branch fifteen years ago, I probably would have been an orthopedic surgeon--or a NASCAR mechanic."

Greg Watson is a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin.  He received a BA in Biology due to his interest in the arts.  Greg has always been a good art student, and still loves architecture and building design today.  Greg attended Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas which is now a part of the Texas A&M University system.  After spending a year in New Mexico, just south of Albuquerque near the Isleta Indian reservation, he returned to his hometown of Austin, and worked for a private dentist in North Austin for a year prior to opening his own practice.  Austin Smile Center opened its doors in 1998 on McNeil Drive, and in December 2004 opened a second location on hwy 620 in the Plaza Volente shopping center.  There are no future plans for any more offices.

"I think that it is my rare combination of talents, my eye for good art and design, and my mechanic aptitude, that has made me the dentist that I am today.  Not only can I envision what makes a smile look good, I have the ability to make it happen".

Greg enjoys spending time with his family (wife Cristina and daughters Claudia and Sofia).   Every weekend it seems, there is some new project going on at the Watson household.  It could be something as simple as rewiring the pool pumps or something as complex as building a garage.  Home improvement has become a second job.  Keeping up with the kids and their schedules takes a lot of time as well.  Other hobbies include lifting weights, surfing, and playing with his "toys".  Greg had been the president of the local chapter of the Viper Club of America for 4 years (now retired). He races his GTS in amateur ViperDays events where he has done quite well.

Cristina Watson manages the two offices by day, but by night enjoys arts and crafts and home improvement.  She does a little painting and pottery, and fights the good fight against weeds in her many gardens.  She isn't afraid to pick up a hammer or drill either when it comes to home improvement.  Cristina also enjoys taking her Viper for a spin, and can be seen at most Viper events.  She works out in the morning with Greg at Gold's Gym.
